My passion is editing cinematic character-driven feature documentaries. These are highly challenging, magnificent jigsaw puzzles, they are deep emotional journeys, they are edifying and life-affirming experiences.

From the ongoing task of organisation, research and learning, to the discovery and constant reevaluation of the symbolism of shots and actions, to the elevation of a ‘true’ lived experience into a compelling narrative-driven story, this kind of work is intensely satisfying throughout the journey of making the film.

I feel so fortunate to have been invited onto these projects by acclaimed directors and producers who have placed trust in our creative relationship and I have given everything I can to bring these stories to life.

Most feature documentaries face the challenge of obtaining funding before they can go into production and an important part of demonstrating the concept, story and tone of a film to potential financiers and networks is a ‘sizzle reel’.

While some of the sizzle reels that I’ve cut are still working away being used in pitches (Flytrap Town, This Son & This Mother), most notably my sizzle for YUJA (directed by Lorna Tucker) helped to successfully achieve full funding and the film has now finished post production and will be released on Sky Arts via Cargo Releasing.
