This is where my passion for making documentaries was born.

Editing for broadcast typically requires cutting to tight deadlines and from a wealth of material. While the SkyArts series I edited had the benefit of a rough pre-established structure, I was given immense freedom in creating the story - including the responsibility of writing the voiceover which tied each film together assisted by a wealth of wonderful (often self-sourced) archive. Upon reflection, I was effectively both editor and edit-producer in some senses.

Arriving relatively early in my career, this baptism of fire proved invaluable in developing my ability to find and refine story at speed, as well as growing my confidence as a writer - a fantastic tool to have for a documentary filmmaker.
